Their Machine Launched a World of Change
The woman knew how to tell a story. I just made a page for this piece, “Their Machine Launched a World of Change” by Kathleen Mauchly Antonelli. It was printed in the Philadelphia Inquirer ten years ago. Feel the love.

Their heads have gotten way too big over this.
I Dont think so. You dont understand what they created. just like so many of their academic contemporaries. With his background in physics and electromagnetism, he saw very clearly the phenomenal unexploited power of the vacuum tube as a very fast switch and extracted every ounce of power from it (with Eckert of course).
He helped usher in the Personal Computer, Cray Supercomputers, the Internet and many other exttemely powerful creations. This is just what the under-appreciated Mauchly essentially was. You just dont understand. His vision created an extremely powerful creation, which fathered many other gigantic creations.
